JEFFCO 2300

High Clarity, Chemically Resistant, 100% Solids - Epoxy System for Clear Top Coats

Back to Civil Engineering page

System SKU: 2300
System Category: Civil Engineering

DESCRIPTION:
Jeffco 2300, 100% solids epoxy system is a premium quality versatile clear coating. It contains no solvents (zero VOC) or carcinogens and has minimal odor to assure low toxicity and ease of application. Jeffco 2300 also has excellent self-leveling ability and has great bonding ability to new or old concrete. It has excellent chemical resistance and is ideal for areas with high concentrations of chemicals. This material has superior impact and abrasion resistance.

APPLICATIONS:
- Clear top coating for other epoxy coatings
- Top coat for quartz floors
- Sealing of pebble coatings
- High clarity non-skid coating

CONDITIONS TO AVOID:
Do not apply to concrete less than 30 days old.
Do not apply to concrete with curing or sealing membranes.
Do not apply to base concrete at a temperature less than 500 F.

SURFACE PREPARATION: Concrete surfaces must be structurally sound and free from contaminants such as dust, oil or dirt. Surfaces must be shot blasted or mechanically abraded to achieve a minimum 5-mil profile. Coated surfaces must be mechanically cleaned and abraded with 60-80-mesh sandpaper and approved by the manufacturer before coating. A calcium chloride “dome” test is recommended and hydrostatic pressure must be <5psi before epoxy coating application. Free-standing water must be removed.

Follow general surface preparation and application procedures specified in ACI 503.1-4.

MIXING: Thorough and complete mixing is critical, a Jiffy mixer is recommended. First mix each component separately. Proportion each component at the ratio of 2 parts A (resin) to 1 part B (hardener) by volume or, if using 1-gallon kits, pour all of Part B (hardener) into Part A (resin) and mix at 400-600 RPM for 3-5 minutes. Use an up and down motion, scraping the mixing container sides and bottom. Mix no more material than may be applied in 20 minutes

PRIMING: Best results are obtained using Jeffco 1500 series H20 based epoxy primers first. 1500 should be applied at a rate of 250 - 300 sq. ft. per gallon. Please refer to 1500 series data sheets for more information on these systems. Jeffco 2300 may be applied as self-priming floor coating. Allow 2300 primer coat to become tacky before applying overlay or topcoat.

FLOOR COATINGS: 2300 is an excellent bonding, high clarity, chemically resistant protective floor coating. It is a low viscosity, self-leveling, moisture insensitive coating. Apply by squeegee, trowel, or roller to desired thickness. A minimum of 15 mils should be applied for best results. Aggregate may be broadcast for additional thickness or slip-resistant quality in coating. Back rolling with a spiked roller will help eliminates any surface defects. May be applied over pigmented primer or other pigmented coatings to achieve a high gloss pigmented coating with superior abrasion resistance.

QUARTZ BROADCAST AND TOPCOAT: Mix 2300 parts “A” and “B” thoroughly first at a rate of 2:1, then apply to floor at a rate of 100-150 sq. ft. per gallon until uniform. Broadcast quartz to refusal or as desired. A topcoat of 2300 should follow application. May also be used to re-seal existing quartz floors by applying a thin coat of 2300 by roller or brush.

SEALING PEBBLE COATINGS: 2300 is perfectly suited for use as a chemically resistant sealer for existing pebble coatings around pool decks, driveways or other applications. This system’s unique clarity and gloss will enhance the look of your coating as well as seal and protect it. 2300’s low viscosity makes it easy to apply by brush or roller while still getting good penetration.

NON-SKID COATINGS:
A non-skid coating can be achieved by adding Jeffco Non-Skid beads at the rate of 1-3% by weight. Beads can either be broadcast into wet coating or pre-mixed into epoxy. Continue to mix periodically as beads tend to float to the surface of container. A topcoat is recommended to encapsulate the beads between coats.
